Early Years Framework Alignment

See how Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure program promotes the Early Years Learning Framework learning outcomes.

For Early Childhood

Supporting Child-Safety in the Early Childhood Sector

Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure program aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) V2.0 through broad outcomes, educator relevance, and age-appropriate learning.

The Ditto program also aligns with key Quality Areas of the National Quality Framework and Standard, as well as being underpinned by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Recommendation 6.2 from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Learning Outcomes Supported

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) V2.0 includes five learning outcomes, characterised by belonging, being and becoming, and strengthening connection to family, communities, culture and place.

Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure program promotes all EYLF learning outcomes, but is most closely aligned with outcomes 1 and 3.

For a full mapping of the Ditto program against the EYLF v2.0, as well as the National Quality Framework, please download our Early Years Learning Framework Alignment Guide.

How the Learning Happens

Play-Based Participation

EYLF V2.0 combines play-based learning and intentionality. Ditto uses age-appropriate song, movement and interaction to make learning active and memorable.

Intentional Facilitation

The framework reinforces the presenter’s intentional role in children’s learning. Bravehearts’ trained presenters help introduce key concepts in a guided, accessible way for young children.

Everyday Reinforcement

Educators can use the Ditto program’s resources to extend learning through routines, story time, simple reminders and calm follow-up conversations.

Strengthening Child Safety with the Ditto Program

Links to the National Quality Framework and Standard

The National Quality Framework is Australia’s overall regulatory system for early childhood education and care, and the National Quality Standard (NQS) within this Framework sets the benchmark against which services are assessed. That benchmark is organised into seven Quality Areas, each of which a service is rated against to produce its quality rating.

Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure is particularly relevant to Quality Areas (NQS) 1 and 5. Delivering the Ditto program and completing Bravehearts’ associated child protection and safeguarding training will give your service documentable evidence for its Quality Area 2 and Quality Area 5 practice.

Quality Area 2 - Children's Health and Safety

Aims to safeguard and promote children's health and safety and protect them from harm; Standard 2.2 (Safety) requires that ‘each child is protected.’ Since 1 January 2026, refinements to the NQS have further strengthened the child-safety focus of Quality Area 2 (Element 2.2.3 is now titled Child Safety and Protection) and Quality Area 7 (Governance and Leadership).

Quality Area 5 - Relationships with Children

Requires respectful, responsive relationships that support children to feel secure and to build the confidence to explore and learn - the same relational foundation the program's Safety Team and trusted adult content is built on.

Other Underpinning Alignments

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

The Convention’s Article 19 (protection from all forms of violence, abuse, and neglect) and Article 12 (the right of the child to be heard) reflect the substance of Ditto’s Keep Safe Rule 1 (‘We all have the right to feel safe with people’) and the program’s consistent message that children have the right to be believed. This gives services language that connects directly to their existing quality improvement plans, rather than introducing a separate rights framework.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse

Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure program is aligned with Recommendation 6.2, which describes integrated prevention education delivered through early learning services, building children’s knowledge and skills to reduce the risk of abuse. Recommendation 6.2’s companion call for prevention education for parents is reflected in Bravehearts’ Parent and Carer’s Guide (Section 2.2).

National Principles for Child Safe Organisations

Every state and territory has legislated or endorsed its own child safety schemes for organisations working with children, built on the ten National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Bravehearts’ educator training can help services evidence staff training under these various schemes.
